(Bill Rodgers winning the Boston Marathon in 1979)
From the article "Boston Billy" Won't Stop Running -
It had been a painful week, in the sport and beyond. Everyone felt it, including Boston Billy. But he was hopeful. "The beauty of the sport is always there," he said. "You can't take that away. You can't."
While we as a coaching staff have been relatively quiet this week, Monday's attack in Boston tested all 3 of us. Although, I would like to say how proud we are of all of you, the athletes, for how you have come together to pay tribute to those who we have lost and those who's hearts have been tested. But Rodger's is right, no one can take running away from you. No one can break your spirit.
Below is the link to an inspiring article on "Boston Billy", 2 days after the attack in Boston. Also below, a picture of Martin Richard, who is referenced in the article. Martin died in Monday's attack.
