Cross Country Spikes

For those looking to learn more about cross country spikes, please see the following website. http://crosscountryrunningshoes101.com/running-spikes/

The 3 Most Important Rules when buying XC Spikes
  1. Make sure that the sole of the shoe is 100% rubber.  That means your plastic bottom spikes from track will not work because of pavement, rocks, roots, etc.
  2. Make sure that you buy "blanks".  Blanks are flat spikes that screw into your shoes so that you can use your shoes on pavement without losing traction.  Blanks also prevent mud and gunk from getting into the grooves in your shoes where the spikes screw in.
  3. Make sure you buy a spike that is comfortable.  Different brands offer different fits, so try them all on and give them a test run if allowed.  Because spikes do not offer support, fit is the most important aspect of buying a spike.  When your racing, the last thing you want to worry about is your spikes!
